Élie Crighton

Élie Crighton (she/her) is an emerging artist from Ottawa, Ontario. Her practice focuses on oil painting, on animation and on illustration and she creates detailed and colorful figurative work as she experiments with distortion, with exaggerated perspectives, with texture and with reflection. Her work is introspective and details her own personal experiences through themes of domesticity, of human nature and of routine. She explores narrative and stages familiar scenes in her compositions, as she strives to find some depth and a source of interest in the imperfections and in the dullness of day to day life.

Élie Crighton (elle) est une artiste émergente originaire d'Ottawa. Elle travaille principalement l’huile, l’animation et l’illustration. Ses œuvres, détaillées et hautes en couleur, testent les limites de la distorsion tout en respectant le figuratif. Enrichies de textures, elles dévoilent une perspective exagérée et s’amusent avec la réflexion pour représenter la domesticité, la nature humaine et la routine depuis un regard introspectif précisé par ses expériences personnelles.
